Mrs. Amy Junker
Algebra 1 & 2 teacher
Background: I was raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in a home where the truths of the Bible were taught and embraced. I had the privilege of attending Christian schools for nearly my entire education and met my future husband when I was just a junior in high school. I have been married to my "boyfriend" for 15 years, and we have been blessed with three sweet children. I had never imagined leaving Michigan to make my home elsewhere, but when the Lord called us to New York through a job transfer in November of 2012, we knew His hand was in it and couldn't deny His perfect timing. While that move was one of the most difficult transitions we have ever experienced as a family, the Lord gave us a peace that passes all understanding and He is continuing to unfold His plan for our lives each passing day. This is why our family is now a part of the C.C.A. family.
Education: I have a B.S. in mathematics secondary education with a middle school endorsement from Taylor University in Upland, IN. I have some course work completed towards a Master's degree in education and have not yet decided when I will continue towards the completion of that degree.
Experience: I taught in a public high school in the suburbs of Detroit after completing my degree and remained there until the birth of our first child (almost 3 years). At this point, I chose to stay home to raise my children and started my own private tutoring business. I have tutored part-time for the past 12 years while doing some part-time teaching. I taught a Pre-Calculus class for 3.5 years in a small Christian school in northern Michigan until we moved to New York. This is my third year teaching at C.C.A., and I am thoroughly enjoying my students and the academic content I have the opportunity to teach!
Favorite Verse: I cling to this verse, especially when I am faced with a difficult situation. James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
