Mrs. Jessica Mitchell
High School English, French, Speech teacher
Background: I grew up in Slaterville, New York and attended Dryden Central Schools all
the way up through. English class was always my favorite, as I loved to read and
especially to write. The Lord directs our steps (Proverbs 16:9) despite our best-laid plans;
even though I went to college to become a writer, I became an English teacher instead.
Education: I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Writing Ministries
from Baptist Bible College (Clarks Summit, PA) before I came to teach English at
Cortland Christian Academy in 2007. I have a Masters of Science in English Education from
My desires as an English teacher are that the words of my mouth and meditations of my
heart would be pleasing to the Lord (Psalm 19:14) and that I would encourage others to
seek God, to love to read, and to embrace their own education as a precious gift.
Favorite Verse: “Whom have I in heaven but thee? And on earth I desire none besides
thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but Got is the strength of my heart and my portion
forever.” (Psalm 73:25-26)
